Toshiba Gigabeat V Series PMP

A quick visit to Toshiba's dedicated Gigabeat website reveals an enticing, clickable "V Series Portable Video Player Pre-Order Today!" graphic in the bottom right corner. It seems the company has been working in stealth mode recently, as there really weren't any indications that the Japan-only V30T PVP would cross the Pacific so soon.

But here it is (sans TV tuner). Now available for pre-order at Amazon and Crutchfield for $399, the all-American 30GB Gigabeat MEV30K features a backlit 3.5-inch QVGA TFT (65K colors, 320 x 240), TV-out capabilities, integrated speaker, and rechargeable li-ion battery that boasts 8 hours of video and 30 hours of audio (MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, Windows DRM 9/10, WAV) playback. It runs on Microsoft's Portable Media Center software (version 2) and is thus compatible with Vongo and Windows Media Player 10 video download services such as Napster and Rhapsody.

The MEV30K is available in piano black, but we wouldn't be surprised if a snow white version popped up eventually.

and the gigabeat website doesn't show the "v"

Yeah, it's not too attractive, but it IS on the gigabeat site. The bottom right-hand corner shows "V Series Portable Video Player Pre-Order Today!" in yellow and white writing over a blue background. It's right next to "Gigabeat 360 Tour."

but europe and the uk already have the white psp

and i'd rather have that than the lame gigabeat s

the reviews weren't the best for the s - battery life was just as bad as the ipod video

and i hate that stupid black frame around the unit's screen and all the side buttons

i hope toshiba does better with the zune

I had an I Pod, I really like my Gigabeat so much more.
I just would like to know where I can find accessories!

    The Gigabeat T400 is without a doubt my favorite flash player at the moment. It does have one major setback in that it only comes in a 4GB, shame on you Toshiba. What makes me love this player is it's ultra slick sexy design, very easy- just pick up and use interface, and killer sound quality that would make Cowon users envious. This player is a must buy for anyone who sports a premium set of headphones. Full review to come but you should really just buy one.

    The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it.     The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice.     JAYS q-JAYS

    The q-JAYS are great in ear phones. They offer excellent clarity, silky treble, realistic midrange, and a nice bass response. They're comfortable, incredibly tiny, and come with a huge selection of accessories. While they certainly are analytic phones, they're still fun to listen to. The q-JAYS respond well to EQing, and can be tweaked to fit almost anyone's sound preference. Recommended for anyone owning a good sounding player and well encoded audio files. Check out our review.
