Sony mylo Personal Communicator

Sony-mylo.jpg

Sony announced yesterday the upcoming release of its mylo personal communicator. Combining the best features of just about every device out there, the mylo features Wi-Fi, QWERTY slide-out keyboard, VoIP, instant messaging, built-in microphone, and removable li-ion battery. The unit ships with a paltry 1GB of flash memory, but a Memory Stick PRO Duo expansion slot helps to soften that blow.

A 2.4-inch QVGA screen (320 x 240) offers 65K colors for organizing photos (JPG/PNG/BMP), watching videos (MPEG-4 SP), and listening to music (MP3/ATRAC/WMA). Measuring 4.8 x 2.8 x 0.94 inches, the 5.3-ounce mylo can keep your tunes spinning for up to an astounding 45 hours on a single charge! Battery life for other applications is also impressive: 7 hours for web browsing and 3.5 hours for VoIP.

The mylo comes in black or white and will be available next month for $350.

can we buy it in canada

Ashley on February 28, 2007 11:29 AM

Okay first of all WIFI is Wireless Internet....you get a router this contains the hardware that has the WIFI...you plug it into your computer that has internet and then you have a WIFI connection. ...Duh...yes places like starbucks have wireless internet but you can also get a router for your home!...starbucks and hotels have wireless internet for people to go and hang out and still have their access.

Giga on July 14, 2007 8:26 PM

Ashley is right.. WIFI can be accessed from your nearest Starbucks or any other Shop that offers it. But also, consumers have the abillity to purchase a router that sends a wireless signal creating a WIFI access point via your own home. However, without WIFI, one can still access the offline features such as listening to music and watching videos. Quoted from the Sony Mylo FAQ: "This product is intended for use in U.S.A. For further details regarding the conditions of Sony's limited warranty and the associated sofware end use licenses and associated service terms and conditions please refer to the limited warranty statement, software end use license agreement and associated service terms and conditions, provided in connection with the product."

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
