Sony Walkman S203F and S205F Sport MP3 Player
Sony as a small heard of flash players like the Bean, the Core, the Circ, and what I am dubbing the Shaft. This phallic looking player, actually called the NW-S203F and NW-S205F, is aimed at the active crowd by sporting a pedometer. The player will come in 1GB and 2GB sizes and will include an FM tuner for those times that you can’t find anything to listen to in your sixty gig music collection. The player is set to be around September/October for $120 and $150 respectively.
Even though I always complain about Sony’s wretched piece of software called SonicStage they have never let me down as far as sound quality. (Yes, even the Bean.)

Nice design, just plain simple and cool !
Sony rocks ! Certainly now that there are firmware updates for allmost every^mp3device to be able to play MP3's natively !

I love the new style sony are using for their players, nice and shiny:P.
Just get sonicstage outta the way, and I might consider getting one if my ZEN breaks.

It looks like a vibrator.

Looks like the same design as their 'remote' that you plug your head phones into on their discman. I want to see the scale of this thing.

I'm assuming from the photo that it has an OLED screen somewhere in the "blank" region of that acrylic tube? (I hope it's not a 1-line display, like on the Bean and the USB key-style chewing gum stick... it'd be so cool if it was a wraparound screen.)
Yep, definitely they seem to be sticking with the jog stick/shuttle remote design from the CD Walkman. (The NW-E400/E500/A600 series also borrows the rotating shuttle design, but not to this extent.)
Looks cool. Just a little too phallic. :P

The headphone jack gives an idea of scale; and I really want this little sucker. It would match my ring perfectly! :P
I doubt it has a wrap around display; that'd be awkward, but OLEDs are flexible so it could be several lines that run lengthwise and fit the player's curve.
Question though; what does the battery life look like?

Has nobody found a way to hack SonicStage & provide a plugin for Sony players yet?
Its a real shame, because I really want to get this player for my wife, but I can't bring myself to have that scienceawful bloody software on my PC.
Its got all the features she'd love too - distance counter, calories burned, the speeding up function - they're all brilliant & Sony go & ruin it with their bollocks.

I just got one of these things for Christmas. I am stuck with the cursed SonicStage software, it freezes up, and has some sort of conflict with other windows software, so it regularly doesnt recognize when the player is plugged in. Does anyone know how to deal with this? cuz the player itself is super cool, although it does indeed have a one-line display, it is really readable and scolls along quite easily. The battery has been fine so far, but I have hardly used the thing since loadingit with music is such a righteous hassle...

Hi,
I got one of these for xmas, but every time i unplug it from the USB cable or unplug the USB from my PC the PC restarts. Its so annoying. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

It may look like a penis, but the sound quality is great. Just download GYM with it if you really can't stand sonicstage. The Sony Penis pwns.

does anyone have the hack to allow the player to have higher volume. Mine is definately locked coz the sound is just not loud enough. Please please please help!
Dave C on July 9, 2007 8:48 AM
Yes, please please please tell me how to unlcok the apparent volume limiter on this MP3 player. Eveything else about is great but if I can't get more volume from it I will put it through the waste disposal unit in my kitchen sink and send the ground up remains to Ken Kutaragi

CAN YOU MAKE THE SONY NW-S205F SOUND IS A PROBLEM FOR ME, CAN IT BE UN RESTRICTED.
rog on August 1, 2007 3:36 PM
any one know how many volts this is so I can buy a charger and not break this thing.. suggest any chargers?? you can unlock the sound very easily, go to the home screen (hold disp) then to settings then to advanced menu then sound then avls and turn off. I believe that is what you are looking for, because mine is quite loud enough.
Rico on August 4, 2007 10:22 PM
ummm... i have one and its great...as far as sonicstage i personally like it for some reason,it doesnt freeze up or give me any trouble, it has an 18 hour battery life and a 3 miniutes of charge gives you 3 miniutes of playback.in my opinon its better then the 2 gig nano.and if its not loud enough its most likely the headphones your using.the earphones that come with it are kinda bad i use phillips in ear headphone which are way better and even better then the ipods and louder. hope this helped

Hi
Please also I need more volume! Its not an issue with AVLS as mine is OFF but still it is way too quiet when I am on a running machine at the gym with background gym music also playing. I can barely hear any music which render this walkman useless!
Please someone tell me how to get it louder.
hanabisummer on December 1, 2007 3:36 AM
