Samsung YP-T9 Bluetooth MP3 Player

samsung-yp-t9.jpg

The Samsung T9 appeared on the FCC’s application filing website. The features look like it is an updated version of the T8 with a similar feature set and supported formats like MP3, WMA, OGG, TXT, JPG, and SVI (Samsung’s video format). The video plays back at 15FPS on the 208 X 176 LCD screen. Samsung promises 30 hours of battery time out of the T9, but will likely result in 20-25 hours real world. The manual shows the player working in UMS mode, so that is good news for easy usage.

Check out the FCC’s site for a lot more photos. They even have the user manual to this new player in PDF form for your reading pleasure. No word on release date, but we will keep you posted.

THIS IS THE BESSSSSSST MP3 PLAYER EVERR! I GOT THE SANSA BUT IT JUST BROKE 5 TIMES! GET THIS ONE ITS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

Best Ive seen on March 9, 2007 5:06 PM

For a person that has reasonable tech know how- recommended,
I had an issue with mine not turning on, I called technical support expecting an out-sourced department located in India or something. I was extremely surprised when i was greeted by someone from the us in the us and they knew how to help me. Well it just needed a reset by pressing and holding a button. I definitely recommend the 1.5 firmware which turns it into a usb mass storage device, i never like using programs to load and delete music. Plus 1.5 is alot faster to load, the games not really entertaining but there none the less and i guess there are others you can get. THE BIGGEST THING: DRM NOT NEEDED, you can also run ogg for all the completely open source people (Linux rules). But over all this is running strong for over 6 months and I use it everyday in the car and traveling.

Can anyone help me!!!!

tasha26 on June 17, 2007 6:43 PM

I really need your help. I hav the samsung yp-t9 and I accidently dropped the bottom portion of it in water. I was still able to liosten to music after I dropped it for 10 min but thru those ten min the center buttons werent working well-I would press the right button and it would think i was pressing the center button. Then I turned it off and then it froze and the screed=n said Bluetooth Mode and something like v1.26 at the bootom. i FIXED THAT PROBLEM USING sPArky's tip. But it wouldn't turn on so I rechaged it and that worked to FULLY CHARGE it so i loaded some songs on it etc. And now when I turn it on the screen goes straight to the options under music (where the first option is now playing) like it's stuck on the enter(center button) button. But then it just stays there and the only way I can turn it off is by using sparky's tip for fixing the frozen issue.PLEASE HELP-is there anyway I CAN FIX the buttons MYSELF- the memory and everything else seeems to be fine. IF I COUD JUST FIX THE BUTTONS I COULS START LISTENING TO MY PLAYER AGAIN.Also, if i sent it to be repaired under my warranty, would they be able to tell that I dropped the player in the water?

hope this helps on June 25, 2007 6:19 PM

The FIRST thing they look for when you have any portable consumer electronic serviced under warranty is water damage. I don't know how to fix it once it's damaged but in the future if you drop anything else in the water, don't turn it on!!!! Let it dry out COMPLETELY. Leave it drying for a week or two. This works! My husband fell in a creek with his smart phone in his pocket. He took it apart, let it dry and it worked perfectly!! And my printer was sitting in front of an open window when a thunderstorm rolled through. It was drenched, but it works fine now.
If I were you I would try taking it apart to see if I could fix the buttons. This will void your warranty but if you dropped it in water I assume it's already voided. First, gently remove the little rubber screw caps on the back corners of the device. I haven't taken this device apart so I'm not sure what kind of screws it has but they are probably tiny star or octagon shaped. Don't get discouraged, you can pick up a set of these tiny tools at Sears or Home Depot for under $10. Make sure the device is completely powered down before you unscrew it. Unscrew it and gently remove the guts, don't pry anything apart, just take it apart into the smallest parts you reasonably can. Clean off the parts and then put it back together again. Sometimes the keys can get gunk in them when submerged in liquid and opening it up can really help.
Good Luck

I honestly hate this player. It's so pretty and I love the features but it keeps having problem after problem! At first it was working fine. Then after I transferred like 450 songs, it just stopped letting me add anything else onto it. It keeps saying "transer failed" or some crap like that. When I plug it in, Samsung Media Studio doesn't even recognize it and it's saying that I have used 0 memory, but I have like 2.5G on it already. My Windows Media Player doesn't recognize the player either. I have updated my computer and all the programs and it still doesn't work. I have exchanged this player twice at Best Buy and the same thing keeps happening over and over and I'm soooooooooooo frustrated! Somebody PLEASE help me, I'm ready to just get my money back and call it a day. BUT, I love it so much!! I just want to figure this crappy thing out! You need to punch in sequence of buttons:
left+left, right+right, up, center, down

This will make you to format the device completely. Once the format is done, you need to reset the player by pressing Record and Menu, both at the same time.
Then turn the player ON, it will display message "USB device", that means, player has nothing on it and it is working as mass storage device only.

Now you need to download the firmware from www.samsung.com and transfer two files MUON.ROM and SYSDATA.bin to root.

Again reset the player by above mentioned sequence.

turn the player on, and now you are back in business.

Have a wonderful day. Enjoy Samsung player. Samsung rocks.

Hello every one. Yes i am a new owner of the Samsung T9 but i am a little disapointed.

I love Bluetooth and the whole idea of send files/info wireless. I was under the impression that where ever you see the Bluetooth logo that this is possible. Sadly i think i am mistaken OR NOT?

I am trying to send ONE simple mp3 file via Bluetooth from my Notebook to my T9, its saying no OBEX which i asume that the T9 CANNOT accept Music Files Via Bluetooth, but only the use of wire free headphones.

Please help if you guys are sending files via Bluetooth to your T9 i wana know HELP!!!!!!

RS on November 22, 2007 9:55 PM

Actually.. I've been a long-time fan of Samsung's MP3 players, but this one is getting to me. I have the YP-T9 2 Gig. model. For some reason, it just died on me. Right off the charger and fully charged, I sat back and listened to it for about ten minutes, and it went black. Haven't been able to get it going since. I put it back on the charger... nothing. I did the infamous simultaneous press of the menu and record buttons... nothing. It's not even a year old and if anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

RS on November 22, 2007 10:02 PM

Guess I oughta read the rest of the posts before I post... my fix was up above. -.-' Sorry, guys. Thanks anyway. For further notice, I only had to press and hold the POWER and record buttons, rather than the menu and record buttons... Hmm. Oh well, it worked.

My T9 freezes at the bluetooth mode F/W v1.24. I had to call samsung for support and they give the news that because my warranty is expired I have to send my mp3 for repair and paid about $85.00 to have fix. Is no other way. I very upset because is not my fault I didn't do anything wrong with. One day was work fine and the next it shows like that. So is worthless to get fix for that price. If anyone experienced something different then that please let me know. roniesn@comcast.net

Sparky please send me an email on how to correct this problem. My YP-T9 is not being recognized by my computer anylonger, I found online an article stating to use Windows MP 10, so I did try it, it did not work. well I went and I formated my computer with XP it came with player10 it found my YP-T9, but I was only able to format it, I could not add any files to it. I tried the reset step many times. now even MP10 does not reconizes it (either). after fromating it I lost all the music in it, but i still can record stuff on it and listen to radio. any help from anyone not only Sparky would be appreciated. if you are sending an email please list in the subject YP-T9 so I know it is from you guys.
Thanks in advance.

if your player turns right back on after powering it off you need to hold the down portion on the front navigation button after pushing the power button. i found this information on another site. i dont know why it works but it worked for me.

The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
