Meizu M6 miniPlayer Review
The Meizu M6 miniPlayer is a newcomer to the US MP3 player market. This thin flash player comes in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB sizes to match the other players in its class: the Nano, Z5, e200, clix, and other slim high capacity flash players. This player has most of the bases covers in terms of audio codecs, including MP3, WMA, OGG, and WMA. On the video side, the miniPlayer uses XviD convertible with off the shelf software. This player has a solid set of fairly standard features with surprisingly great sound that has a killer low end. The player however, is not without faults. For the entire low down, read on
Accessories
You will be happy with the nice set of accessories packed in with the miniPlayer. Meizu is definitely hooking you up on this one. Inside the box you will find the player, carrying pouch, strap, cleaning cloth, earbuds, standard USB cable, manual, and software for converting video. As far as additional accessories, there may not be too many, but I have already seen a clear plastic case that covers the entire player.
Design
Even though the player is thin, it is still very solid. To prevent scratching, Meizu covered the front face and back metal with a thin scratch resistant sheet of plastic, much like a screen protector but more robust and perfectly installed. Under normal use you shouldn’t have problems with scratching up your miniPlayer.
The design falls short on originality; the design is definitely influenced by the iPod and the Nano. This becomes even more apparent when comparing the GUI.
Screen
The screen takes up the vast majority of the front, measuring in at 2.4" with 260K colors at QVGA (320x240) resolution. The screen tends to wash out slightly at an angle. It is not bad, but slightly less comparable than most LCD screens when viewed off center. Otherwise the screen is very clear with a balanced color.
User Interface
The miniPlayer’s user interface is made up of a top pause/play/power button and a front hybrid touch and tactile pad. The pad has 4 tactile buttons: menu, return, forward, and back. The touch interface is a horizontal slide with a center tap to execute.
The front pad is way too small for a touch interface. It would have made a world of difference if it was a simple tactile interface. A 4-way direction pad with a menu and back button right above it would have been perfect. It also wouldn’t hurt to put some dedicated volume buttons at the top.
Keep in mind that I have a bias about touch interfaces. I find that all touch interfaces are prone to inaccurate navigation.
The GUI
I had to completely rewrite this section on the user interface because of a firmware update which vastly improved the user interface. I was originally testing this player with firmware version T1.006. This had a user interface that was a complete mess and totally unacceptable. Upgrading the player to the new T1.007 firmware made a night and day difference in the user interface. Before you use this player in any capacity, check for the latest firmware updates.
The graphical user interface is simple, but has a minor learning curve. This is mainly due to inconsistencies through the players OS. For instance, the volume button is usually controlled by sliding your finger up and down the touch pad while you are in the music screen. But, if you are watching a video, the volume up is the menu button and the volume down button is the return. Then if you want to get out of watching a video, you cannot hit the menu button to take you back like in music mode because that just increases the volume. You have to hold the pause button for a few seconds to exit video mode, but don’t press it too long because you will turn the player off.
Overall the interface is good but not great. But, it has the potential to be great with future firmware improvements if Meizu follows up with customer feedback in a timely manner.
Transferring Media
Perfect. I have no complaints. It is UMS, simple drag and drop and you are ready to go. Throw your media in a folder and go refresh the library and all of your music is recognized by ID3 tags. But if you don’t like your media sorted by artist/album/genre, you can also browse by file and folder.
In future firmware updates, the Meizu miniPlayer will support PlaysForSure music services via MTP for those who are interested.
Battery
The battery is rated at 20 hours of runtime. I found under normal use the battery life to be between 14-17 hours, slightly short of the rated time but expected under real world use. The miniPlayer did very well with video playing back 5-6 hours of video by my tests.
Features
Radio
Radio reception is fair and it depends on what headphones or earbuds you are using. The radio also features auto programming and FM recording which can be recorded at 32, 64, or 128kbps. A nice added FM feature is the ability to name and edit the stations by opening up a txt file found on the player. It makes setting and naming the stations quick and easy.
Games & Tools
The M6 miniPlayer shipped with two games installed: Box Man and Hua Rong Dao. Box Man is a simple puzzle game that is mildly entertaining and a worthy time killer. Hua Rong Dao is a Chinese puzzle game where you have to slide boxes off the screen.
In addition to the games, the player also has a calendar, calculator, and stop watch. They are all straight forward and are easy to use due to the large screen.
Voice Recording
Voice recording worked just as expected. The microphone was able to pick up normal volume conversations with several people sitting around a table. You can choose from bitrates of 32, 64, or 128kbps.
Text Viewing
Supporting TXT files, the miniPlayer allows you to keep a list of your contacts or read whatever it is you guys read. Text on the 2.4” screen looks good and is very readable.
Photos
This player can handle three different photo file types, JPEG, GIF, and BMP. Your photos will have to be scaled down; the miniPlayer can only handle files under 1024 x 1024 pixels.
Photo browsing is laid out in a 5 x 4 thumbnail grid which can be browsed manually or put on a slide show. Music can also be played during a slide show as well. Photos can also be your background if you like.
Audio
Compatible audio formats include MP3, WMA, OGG, and WAV. Future firmware updates will support PlaysForSure based music services.
Overall I am very impressed with the audio quality; it is very clean and highly customizable. A lot of players fall flat when it comes to the bass end of the sound spectrum. The miniPlayer on the other hand delivers a very defined and powerful low end. If your music is heavy on the bass you will not be disappointed. The player performs just as well in the rest of the sound spectrum.
The audio is very tweakable, with a responsive 10-band EQ, bass boost, treble boost, and SRS effects. The volume limit in firmware version T1.007 was uncapped but could be limited in a setting under the “Sound Effects” option.
Playlists
The miniPlayer has very good on-the-go play list support. Tracks are added to the temporary “My Playlist” when you long press the enter key while track is highlighted. The “My Playlist” can then be saved as a new playlist. The playlists get named in a sequential format- “Playlist1”, “Playlist3”, etc. These playlists get saved on the player as standard M3U files so they are fully editable and renameable. Those who like to listen to their music while plugged into the computer will appreciate the fact that the playlists on the device will work while plugged into your computer.
Video
The video on the 320 x 240 pixel 2.4” screen is comfortable to watch. The frame rate is 18 FPS so may look a little choppy at those specs, especially videos with a lot of action. The compatible video format is XviD with MP3 audio up to 256kbps bitrates.
The Meizu M6 miniPlayer comes bundled with a special version of VirtualDub with profiles for converting video. It works just fine, but I found that using iriverter with a custom made profile was much easier- basically a “one click” conversion. Instructions and the custom profile for converting video using iriverter can be found in the Meizu forum.
The profile I created is scaled back to 15 FPS to save space and battery life. Video takes up a little over 2MB per minute using the iriverter program and Meizu profile.
At the time of testing, this player would not handle video that was more than 40 minutes. This is probably a bug that needs to be worked out.
Conclusion
On the downside the GUI could be more consistent. There are also some bugs to work out with playlists, track order, video length restriction and few other issues. Most of these complaints can be solved with firmware updates. Meizu seems to be dedicated to this player and is actively seeking feedback as far as bugs and feature requests, so these issues may be addressed in future firmware updates.
Despite a few firmware tweaks, I really appreciate the size and sound quality of this player. It is small with a big screen and a solid durable scratch resistant form factor. As far as sound quality, the miniPlayer runs with the big dogs, especially when it comes to lower end. Bass heads will be very pleased. The M6 miniPlayer is definitely worth considering and should be put into your comparison chart when selecting a new flash based player.

Great review guys. I have one on order over at www.miniplayer.info. It is about time we get a nice alternative to iPod.
Noam on July 19, 2006 7:01 AM
Isn't miniplayer.info that fake site?
Great review, by the way.
Solinx on July 19, 2006 8:06 AM
Wouldn't take the risk of buying at that place. Check this place instead:

And yeah, it's a good review.
I can add to it that I can play well over 40 minutes of video.
The review probably was with the beta of the firmware release.

Pretty good review.
It's too bad that the Meizu m6 video support is only 18 FPS...
Shahid on July 19, 2006 10:50 PM
While the screen is only 320 x 240 and it can only play video at 18 FPS, will it play Xvid at higher resolution and framerate (and just scale down the resolution and drop the extra frames)? Or is conversion required?
Piouse Leo on July 20, 2006 6:29 AM
It's not an MP4 player but an MP3 player. So video playing is only its additional founction. Now I heared that the newest firmware surport video at 20FPS.
But don't forget than it is cheap enough!Much cheaper than iPOD!!!
Bart on July 20, 2006 8:03 AM
The player can also scale down, but why would you want that? Because it takes more memory when you do not convert the video file. And you won't see any difference.
Shahid on July 20, 2006 10:52 AM
Bart: Pure laziness is the reason! (I have a divx player for my home theater, and use higher resolution files for that. I'd rather just plop something that was created for that purpose into my M6--even if it takes more memory--instead of converting all the time.)

Any insider information on a possible 8GB model?
That would be the deal sealer for me.
Also, does this support album art?

Hi all,
I have a question about a phrase here, the original is:
"As far as sound quality, the miniPlayer runs with the big dogs, especially when
it comes to lower end. "
Can any of you tell me what does "run with the big dogs" and "lower end" mean respectively? Does "lower end" refer to the bass sound or does it imply that this is an entry-level player?
I am not a native English speaker so I have the confusion. I asked a few native speakers but they seemed to have different views on this question.
Thank you.
Pan.
Pan on July 23, 2006 8:07 PM
And by the way, I have a review on M6 myself. I have a copy at DAPreview as well.
javi on July 23, 2006 11:21 PM
"run with the big dogs" means it as just as good as the bigger name players like the ipod
and i am pretty sure that "lower end" refers to the bass sound
how does this player compare to the sansa e260?
is it worth waiting for and paying a little more?

As always, leave it the folks at Meizu to continue producing a stunning product. Like all the mp3 players in the Meizu evolution, the M6 delivers on what the consumers want.
Similar in shape and look that many compare to Apple's popular models, the M6's similarities are only superficial. It is unlikely that Meizu attempted to "copy-cat" Apple's line-up, considering the stunning and uniqueness of all the predicators. Undoubtedly it will be difficulty for any mp3/mp4 manufacturer to create a better physical design than the one in question.

I am glad to hear that this device has a great low end sound output, I am a bass head, yes. I've always enjoy products from Cowon Iaudio due to their great sound output. How is this new device stack up with Cowon? I am a fan of flash memory and not hard drive, the Cowon I6 wasn't disappointed me a bit. Therefore, I look forward to this Meizu M6's performance, should be a fun experience. Thumbs up to great music.

To Javi,
Thank you for your interpretations about running with the big dos and lower end. I am sorry if it sounds like I am talking big, but sound quality wise, Miniplayer's performance is not just as good as "big dogs", but a bit better than many you would think of, including iRiver's! I haven't personally tried out iAudio's, but it's said that it's at nearly the same level as is iRiver. The iPod's sound playback has been quite controversial here in China, but by most reckoning iPods' success lies mostly in its background and design, not the sound quality.
I am sorry I haven't heard of sansa e260 before so I can't answer your question.
Pan.
EnzoTen on July 28, 2006 11:03 AM
When i said "big dogs" i meant iAudio, Creative, and the higher end MP3 players not the iPod. The iPod sounds average at best.
My apologies for the confusing American expressions. I will avoid them in the future and write for more of a global audience.
Pan on July 28, 2006 10:41 PM
Hi, EnzoTen,
Thank you very much for your explanation. It's ok. I've been learning American English for six years; actually I like American English better than British English. :) Your review has been repasted here and there, and readers on MeiZu's official forum speak high of your objective and down-to-earth review.
I think you are being honest when defining iPod's sounds "average at best".
Miniplayer means a lot to Meizu despite its bugs, a few of which can be annoying sometimes. The good news is that most of these bugs are firmware-related and can thus be cleared out one way or another. As an aspiring company in portable digital music players, Miniplayer is a new start.
Hope to read more reviews from you,
Pan.

Hello.
I'm very intrested in the M6 miniplayer.
I would like to know a few things:
1) Can i use it to transfer photos from my camera (canon) or from a card reader with an usb interface? I mean usb on the go (OTG)?.
2) Can i see photos on it without any pixel limit? I mean, can i see photos of 5,6 or more megapixels without scale it?
I read about the usb on the go (otg) but now i read you have to scale down photos to see them !!! So.. i can transfer photos and i can't see...???
ANY HELP???
Pan on July 31, 2006 10:38 PM
Hi, Javier,
The Miniplayer itself doesn't support USB OTG. But don't lose your heart yet. It's said that the OTG will be available on it's external battery case. The problem is this legendary batter case hasn't been released yet and nobody's ever seen it so far except those working in MeiZu's office.
The given specs say it supports pictures as big as 1024X1024, but tests show pictures as huge as 3000plus X 2000plus pixels can be displayed correctly, but a little more slowly. I think that's enough for most cases.
Hope this helps.
Pan.

Pan,
1) Will they be fixing the random audio feature? Right now, there isn't too much with it being random.
2) Are they adding/getting audible support? I would love for that to be one of THE features to add in the near future.
3) Will the converter eventually handle .wmv? That would make it really useful.
wefweoihfw on August 8, 2006 7:08 PM
The converter, do you mean vdub? Vdub was made by a seperate guy, so I doubt meizu will rewrite vdub to allow it to handle .wmv
although, vdubmod seems like another good choice.

Does anyone have any idea of what sort of long-term battery life to expect? I know it's really new still, but since it's a built-in battery, I'm nervous to buy one unless I know the battery won't stop holding a charge after 6 months of use/charging. I have friends with iPods and other such mp3 players that had that problem. Thanks.
granolagirl on August 13, 2006 3:35 AM
is this another player that only charges from a computer? I'm looking for a flash player that plugs into a wall that I can throw in my backpack for a trip. Recharging my player at an internet cafe for 15 mins at a time doesn't seem like a solution to me. I compared this with the Sansa that appears to have the same problem.
I see that Griffin makes a charger for iPods that recharges through a USB cable. Anyone know if this will work with something other than iPods?

I bought mine in China for 1600RMB, 4gb model.
I can't say that the touchpad on this is any worse than the one on the ipod. On this one you can at least navigate by just tapping the pad, after a while you'll get used to it and it is much easier to navigate without looking at the player ... I don't know why apple didn't implement something that simple.
Furthermore the support in the Meizu forum is great. The people from Meizu are definitely interested in how to improve the player in terms of firmware.
And here in Europe Meizu is not that unknown. They have been selling their smaller usb-stick players for quite a while and they also sound realy realy good.

NOTE: www.digitalelement.ca isn't importing the M6 yet!!! They were supposed to start selling them in Canada in August but there's a dispute with some NA company over mp3 licensing in Canada. I talking with them and they didn't want to give me a date on when I could purchase one because even they weren't sure when it would happen. I'm still planning on purchasing a M6 when I can, but Meizu hasn't worked out all its licensing issue in Canada yet. (which is ODD because they're selling all the other mp3 players right now, just not the M6) Disappointed but its either the M6 or a Mylo for me!!! (I know, big difference on a number of levels)

Should I get the 4gig version on ebay for $225 white? Is there a risk for getting something that isn't available in the US? Firmware, warranty, etc.
Thanks for your expertises.
bartman on September 24, 2006 11:54 AM
8lias: I live in Europe and a storebought Sansa e270 (4GB) costs exactly US $200 here.
The extra $25 must be for the radio which Europeans do not have.
snaithbert: This player only supports quicktime and as I make out from the review you would still have to convert that .mov into one which is supported. So yes, you must convert any .avi video container into a supported .mov.

ARGH, disregard my previous post. I thought I was commenting on the SanDisk Sansa review.
snaithbert: AFAIK the player only supports video up to 20 FPS so you do have to convert any PAL/NTSC standard video to 20 FPS.
8lias: I'd buy it.
8lias on September 24, 2006 8:24 PM
As of now, if we live in a slighly perfect world, a black 8gig one would do it. Soon or later, that'll happen, but I hate waiting game, I want it, I want it NOW, gosh, it's so hard to be human sometime, we are sooooo spoiled and demanding. OK...Meizu....PLEASE....STOP TEASING ME.... I am buying the white 4gig on eBay next week for $209 plus $14.99 shipping charge, also comes with a clear case. Curse all of you if you are waiting for the black 8gig one, just kidding. LOL
Peter on September 30, 2006 11:16 PM
Why is everyone buying before the firmware fixes what's missing?
Solinx on October 8, 2006 11:32 AM
One reason is to be unique. Only last week I finally found another person to have a Meizu during the 3 months that I own this player, and I frequently travel by train and bus between two relatively big cities. Another is that they had already made a few good firmware upgrades, third is that Meizu depends on a low number of quality products, which means they will support each individual product better. The final reason was that my old player broke down and we were going on a two week holiday... The player was reported to function good enough and firmware would be on its way.
In short, Im very statisfied with this player and glad I didn't go the Ipod road.

Blaise Freeman on October 13, 2006 2:44 PM
WARNING: Meizu clearly has poor quality control.
I bought an M6 and it broke after two days! This isn't a fluke apparently because multiple people have posted on their forums about a "white screen of death" or not being able to do this or that as it should.
I loved the little player but it seems very unreliable. The slideshows are an awesome feature and it plays ogg and flac (with firware upgrade) Unfortunately, their firmware upgrades are solving issues that should have been solved with testing before going to market and if you're spending $200 it needs to be reliable.
I returned mine and bought a 4GB iAudio6 for $180 instead of $210 for 4GB Meizu Mini-Player.
KD on October 14, 2006 6:41 PM
I received mine yesterday, and first impressions have been great. The interface is fine (execpt for the slightly bizarre way of video UI which was mentioned in the review) I think the sound quality and feature set is fantastic for a player of this size/price. My previous player was an iAudio M3 20GB (replaced it due to a faulty headphone jack), and this little player not only looks better, but has a similar feature set (the m3 doesn't support video) and a better interface (the m3 had file system browsing only). I bought it from miniplayer.info, and although I was charged an £8.65 customs charge and had to wait almost 3 weeks, I'm quite happy with their service. They even included a tanslucent case which I initially hated, but has really grown on me, as it provides a robust casing for one of the most beautiful players on the market (IMO) at the end of the day, I'm extraordinarly happy with my purchase and I'd recommend the M6 to anyone!
Eric on October 20, 2006 4:40 AM
I'm a US resident and am planning on purchasing this mp3 player from miniplayer.info. But, I hear that the US release doesn't have mp3 support. Others respond by saying that firmware updates can remedy this problem.
Can anyone fill me in on this issue?
Thanks!!
Fresh-N-Clean on October 22, 2006 1:39 AM
1 thing i wanna say. the thing that made this plyr rly stand out to me was that it played the xvid codec. xvid codec is one of the best codecs out there and very space-saving. other plyr like sansa plays this horrible mjpeg-B codec that makes videos 2-3x larger. but generally this plyr looks nice but a lil too close-looking to the ipod. i want this plyr!

The difference is the manufacturer of the screen. Tp version get charger and usb OTG in the package. it cost more than sp version, other than that, its all the same.
laowai on December 7, 2006 3:16 AM
Got one for 1400 RMB in Tianjin, China. This included external USB battery pack, USB A/C adaptor, 3 silicon skins, a black faux leather case w/ screen cover and a set of screen protectors. Converting video is a little time consuming but not too bad. Just make a profile for a program like Super or Iriverter and you're good to go with converting DVDs or getting content off the net. Really stoked with it and now I've got some ipod toting friends who're interested.

where can we buy the meizu the less expensive??
Lex on December 17, 2006 11:19 AM
can anyone here who has the player for months now comment about the battery life of the player??? I am really interested on buying this one because it looks great, the new firmware is great afaik, video, fm, 4g, cheaper than the overpriced ipod where youre only buying the brand but not the quality (coming from a guy who hates brand zombies). Also if anyone got information as whether what should we do when the battery life degrades over time? can we replace them manually?
The reason i dont want an ipod is because half of my music library is in wma format, and i cannot be arsed to convert them to mp3.. wma has better compression rates compared to mp3, so why switch to mp3??? geez
And oh Andy, i sense youre an ipod fanboy.
Accessories are hard to get for this one though.. silicone, charger, external battery
boostr29 on December 17, 2006 9:25 PM
I've owned a miniplayer since july this year...there has been no problem with the battery life...for music i get around 16 hours with custom EQ...it's been like that since i bought it.
...as for replacing the battery manually i don't know. :p...wouldn't wanna open my player.
...there are available accessories online...the external battery is a nice one to have. ;)

bought one last month at 850 yuan (109USD), the 1gb version with toshiba screen (they call it TP version, or delux version).
pros: good and balanced sound after some tweaks on the equalizer (dont use the pre-set equalizers, turn off 3D sound, dont boost bass too much. ), very good screen (great color). solid build.
cons: some background noise.
they just cut the price. now a 2GB delux version is sold for 850 yuan. but rumor has it that the NAND memory chip is changed to MLC from SLC, the latter is faster and more durable.
overall, this is a better and cheaper product than IPOD.
ps. you should tear off the protective cover on the back, while keep the screen protector. the back protective cover may accumulate sweat and dust on the border.

The official website of meizu in China is www.meizu.com for ChinaTelecom line and www.meizu.com.cn for ChinaNetCom line.
The most important is that meizu has no any official website abroad. That means the official websites is noly the two above in China!

I just received my M6 3 days ago, and it's been fantastic. The buttons on the front are BOTH touch and click. The top, left, right, bottom buttons are clicks, but when you select something, you can just touch the middle of the keypad and it will select. I love the buttons interface, it's so much better than the iPod. The videos were not as choppy as I thought, and the M6 was smaller than I thought. So far, I'm really impressed.

So, just to sum up everything that's been said...
it will come in 8gb format sooner or later? is this confirmed?
Doesn't it come with a wall-charger, right? So, it's USB only like the Ipod. That's too bad.
does it have any problem with the random function? Some above poster mentioned this, but I'm not sure what he's talking about. I ask because I only use an mp3 player with a big playlist and random enabled.
Also, are the rumours of a new Meizu player, 8gb and no video coming up in february? That would be great, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

The 8GB Meizu by Dane-Elec miniPlayer will most likely be in the US toward the end of March.
Dane-Elec currently has no plans to market the M3 Music Card, so you would have to get them through other sources. Dane-Elec is Meizu's exclusive distributor in North America and Europe, though many Meizu OEM versions obviously make their way into the market through Chinese sellers and importers worldwide.
We currently carry the 4GB and 2GB miniplayers. We are a US based seller, and we will be carrying the 8GB miniplayer as soon as it is launched in the US. www.jtcelectronics.biz

I have a meizu mp4 player tho i only use it for music and photos, tho the vid is great too im just more of a music person. Anyway, theres a prob in its voice recorder so if you have any intention of using it as a voice recorder im not advicing that you purchase this. What Im fond of about this music player is that you can personalize it :) [ex. make one of your photos as your MP's wallpaper and change the menu design] and the sounds are clearer than those of an ipod's, and could be set up based on a genre. The resolution is great too!! I'm really very very satisfied&happy with this :)

I've been looking at mp3 players for a while, and I'm really looking at this and the e270 (6gb). I've got a few questions, if you don't mind answering...
Overall, how would you say it measures up to the e270? I can get it on Amazon for about the same price as the e270, and the space isn't much of an issue, so...opinions?
Does it have continuous playback, by any chance?
Can you navigate through the music using genre (talking ID3 tags here)?
Would it be the sort of thing you could take to school/on car trips without it dissolving in a matter of days? (Question of durability, really. I don't run cars over my mp3 players or anything, and they last a fairly long time, but I still don't really want one that if I drop it on a rock or something it's dead--iPod durability is fine for me, even though they're breakable)
About how big would a 4-5 minute video come out to be using the conversion software?
What's the video sound quality like (would I want to use it for music videos?...)?
Can you slip it into a jean pocket without the screen busting/scratching?
Are accessories available in the US? (I'm talking a protective silicone case--I've seen them on various websites but no buy links.)
Are there any evil little bugs like it skips in the middle of a song/it can't order tracks properly/the recording feature is crap that I ought to know about?
And now that I've interrogated you pretty thoroughly on this thing...well, I hope you don't mind answering.

I was looking at the M6 8GB version on the mp4nation.com site and I was wondering, is the the headphone jack on the M6 8Gb version 2.5mm or 3.5mm? Because aren't most headphones 3.5mm?
jbrams on June 13, 2007 11:12 AM
The jack is standard 3.5mm

Does anyone have experience with downloading iTunes AND non-iTunes (i.e. not purchased) mp3's to the M6? Cnet says this player "doesn't support protected digital music" and that "DRM music hawker should steer clear". I'm not exactly sure what they mean by that.

Have anyone got their Meizu from www.mp4nation.com yet? Seems to good to be true!
Btw, Meizu rocks! I love my Music Card so much! A lot better than iPod Nano.

I got a 4GB BLK from newegg.com for $89 after $10 rebate.
Great little player! :)

I purchased an M6 from Walgreens for $99 on June 7th which was promised to ship on 6/11/07 and have not received it yet or received a shipping email. My order status still says "processing". Customer service can tell me no further details about my order and all references to this item on their website show an "in-stock" status, so why can't they just ship the darn thing!!!. I do not recommend purchasing from Walgreens. This is very poor customer service.

@ Don Kush:
I did the same thing with Walgreens. I ordered one in late May expecting mine to ship on the 11th of June, as it stated on the website and in the email confirmation they sent upon my order.
I emailed customer service and they said their vendor didn't have them in stock and that they'd ship the following Monday. When that didn't happen, I emailed them again and they said that my order had not been received and that I wouldn't be charged.
Today, someone from Walgreens called me and told me that they didn't have the black ones in stock but that they could send me a white one instead.
In kinder words, I told them to buzz off.

Just a follow-up on my recent Walgreens experience. Eventually (two weeks later) I received a useful email from their ECOM customer service similar to Tom's phone call mentioned above. They offered me the options of waiting longer for the black M6, cancelling the order, or purchasing the white M6 with a $10 credit for my trouble. I took a chance and agreed to the white unit which shipped the next day and I received it within 3 business days. A bit late but they did make an effort to make me happy.
The dane-elec US distributor is apparently out of the black M6's
