Delux iShow DLA-688 Now With Softcore Porn

China-based Delux is adding a new flash player to their DLA line (that little thing dangling from the girl's wrist is what you're supposed to be looking at). Alternatively referred to as the iShow and the DLA-688—each with slight variations on what is printed on the front of the player—the 1GB device is turning heads all over China with its racy ad campaign.

Risqué advertising aside, the DLA-688 offers what we're starting to see more of on flash devices these days: video playback (albeit on a 1.8-inch TFT screen). Unfortunately, the player is compatible only with proprietary MTV files, which require the AMV codec. This may not be an immediate deal killer, though, as other features include an ebook reader, FM radio, games, and voice recorder. Of course there's also the standard MP3/WMA/WAV and JPG/GIF/BMP support, USB 2.0 interface, and multi-language options. All this on a flash player!

When released, it seems the DLA-688 will sell for an unbelievably low $50 (399 yuan)! You'll need to import it on your own, of course, but it may be worth it. Check out all the MP3 and MP4 gadgets Delux already lists on their English site.

Be careful, this player is powered by Actions SoC and can be seized at the european borders and the importation into US will probably forbiden after September 15th

Bumbletrizl on July 30, 2006 8:12 AM

@ John H. >>> why??

John Harary on July 30, 2006 6:06 PM

Actions Semiconductor has infringed two patents from Sigmatel and most people have expected that the International Trade Commission (ITC) will confirm the previous ITC judge ruling on September 15th. Furthermore on July 25th, Sigmatel said that it intends to start filing border seizure measures in Europe to enforce its European-based patents. The seizure measures permit unlicensed MP3 players that infringe SigmaTel's European patents and are imported into Europe to be confiscated by European customs officials

If you carelly the above article, you will remark that the author has pointed out that "you'll need to import it on your own", because no one will take the risk to import this procduct into Europe or into the US as it can be confiscated at the border

If you read carefully the above article, you will remark that the author has pointed out that "you'll need to import it on your own", because no one will take the risk to import this product into Europe or into the US as it can be confiscated at the border. It is like you go to Thailand for holidays and come back with a fake Rolex watch, you will get some trouble with the customs !!!!!

isn't that a meizu m6 that the girl in the top picture is holding?

glitch on July 31, 2006 12:52 PM

yeah, it sure looks like an m6 mini player to me. I still don't know what meizu has to do with Delux , but maybe it's just the writers mistake :)

jaalin on August 4, 2006 11:16 AM

ah, nice link jenn. the strip on the right looks a bit different than the m6... not to mention the m6 should look smaller!

  • Samsung P2
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 has been gaining quite a following lately and rightfully so. If you are looking for something well designed, innovative, and feature packed; you should look into this full touch screen wonder. The Bluetooth feature set is what I find to be the most intriguing, with the ability to tether to your phone to make calls or wirelessly transfer with no restrictions to other P2s. Check out the review or stop by our ever growing P2 forums to get the latest info.

  • Toshiba Gigabeat T400
    toshiba gigabeat t400

The Gigabeat T400 is without a doubt my favorite flash player at the moment. It does have one major setback in that it only comes in a 4GB, shame on you Toshiba. What makes me love this player is it's ultra slick sexy design, very easy- just pick up and use interface, and killer sound quality that would make Cowon users envious. This player is a must buy for anyone who sports a premium set of headphones. Full review to come but you should really just buy one.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • JAYS q-JAYS
    JAYS q-JAYS

The q-JAYS are great in ear phones. They offer excellent clarity, silky treble, realistic midrange, and a nice bass response. They're comfortable, incredibly tiny, and come with a huge selection of accessories. While they certainly are analytic phones, they're still fun to listen to. The q-JAYS respond well to EQing, and can be tweaked to fit almost anyone's sound preference. Recommended for anyone owning a good sounding player and well encoded audio files. Check out our review.
