LG FUSIC LX550 - Feature Filled Music Phone

lg-fusic.jpg

There have been plenty of research groups conducting “studies” saying that mobile phones put a dent in dedicated MP3 player sales by integrating digital audio playback in the near future. This will not happen anytime soon for the same reasons that mobile phones have not yes hurt the digital camera market. I am not saying that it will never happen, but it is years away.

None the less LG’s new phone quite a few audio features for a mobile phone. This includes a front panel display with controls, MicroSD slot (now up to 2GB), D2DP Bluetooth audio, MP3/WMA/AAC codec support, and even an FM transmitter. The phone will sell for $330 or $180 with a 2yr contract.

1) Put the card into your computer

3) Click and drag your music into the "Media" file
4) Put the card back into the phone, and there you go!

LG FUSIC SUCKS on September 10, 2006 8:32 PM

i thought this phone was bomb... for a minute...

then i discovered how lame it really is. and by lame, i mean in the sense that it has a capability but that it grossly under-performs...

much like the original meaning of the word "lame." like, you're lame when you break your foot, because you have a foot that could work, but it doesn't work because it's broken and therefore fairly useless for the time being until healed.

in the case of the lame lg fusic, the "healing process" SHOULD be as simple as a firmware update, but we'll see.

the lameness...

1. 1gb micro sd capacity, can't use 2gb cards... LAME!
2. media player equalizer has only presets, can't configure frequency bands independently... LAME!
3. fm transmitter only has an effective range of less than 1ft, from the phone to the radio/stereo antenna... LAME!
4. i use an A2DP bluetooth stereo headset to listen to mp3s with... the bluetooth goes in and out of service and the phone is only about 3ft away in my pocket... LAME!

and the WORST:

5. when playing music, you can't use ANY other phone functions... HELLA FUCKING LAME!

these are potentially great features, but they are executed very poorly. hopefully sprint will issue a firmware update to address these terribly lame issues... and SOON. if so, this will be a great phone. but as it stands now, i'm very disappointed with my purchase.

hey did any one figue out how to play music with the flip down i can only get it to play my music with the flip open how lame..helpppppp..

Static2600 on September 15, 2006 4:06 PM

Downloading music and files to the memory card in the phone can be done using the USB cable that the phone comes with. Connect the phone to the PC and let the Modem driver install if you're prompted. Then go into the settings/tools on the phone and enable the USB drive option. You can then copy stuff directly.
Also, if you have an SD slot on your PC, you can put the micro SD card into the supplied converter and read it like a regular SD card.

To use the media player with the phone shut just hold down the play button for a moment to unlock the key lock. Then press and hold the button again to get the Music screen to come up. Then select the memory card and you can play your tracks.

To use the transmitter, follow my instructions on playing a track with the media player above, or open the media player from the menu system. Then, play a track. Once the track is playing, flip open the phone if it's closed. Choose "options" in the bottom right and then select "radio transmitter on". The channels for the transmitter can be configured under tools or settings.

To configure a playlist, you have to enter the Sprint media store and choose the playlist option. It will add folders to your micro SD card. You can then manage the playlist. I've been told that windows media player can manage the playlist once the folders are in place.

If you have a mac and want to get your music on the phone. Ummm get a PC or something. =)

I just got this phone and was trying to figure out the fm transmitter deal, which I got my answer from static2600. Thanks man! So here is what I can give back:

First things 1st. On this phone is internal memory and external memory(the mini sd card.) I got one with the phone that's 64 megs, not alot of room for songs, but something to get you started. You have two ways to get music on this phone. One is with the usb cable that it came with or by using the adapter and plugging it into a digital media reader. This will go into how I made it work using the cable. Yea, I know it's a loooong report. I only have XP, so with other OS's your mileage may vary. When you plug in the usb cable from the phone to your computer, nothing will happen. On the phone go to menu/tools scroll down to the bottom and select usb flash drive, and select yes to connect. Then XP will see the phone. You should see a new drive letter. Double click the new drive, and you'll see some folders. You'll see a dcim folder and another folder under that named something like 100lgdcf. This is where your pictures are. You can back them up or add new pictures and create a slideshow on the phone. The pics you add should be 640x480 or even lower. Go back to the root folder where you see dcim, media and music. Your mp3 files need to be copied into the media folder. Once that is done back out of it, and go into menu/media player. Select #2 which is "media card". You should see all your songs. Select a song and hit"ok". It will play the next one in the list when it's done. To play music with the cover closed, hit the ">||" button on the front and hold it down. Then it will say key gurad off. Hit the button again, now you see 2 icons, hit the right button to select memory card. Select your song and hit the middle button to play it. Use your volumn controls on the left side to crank it. Now you can open and close it, and it will keep on playing.

Concerning USB hookup…it may help to connect the phone’s USB cable directly to the computer’s USB port….if you connect though a USB port hub; the phone may not show up as an removable drive on the computer

(don't have my book at work) but it said to create a MUSIC folder to get the music to play from the FRONT player. will do that later and report back tomorrow. a little complicated to setup at first but then it's on autopilot.

rig on October 13, 2006 7:52 AM

how do you download pictures from your computer into the phone

vthokie08 on October 16, 2006 3:44 AM

For all of you people wondering how to get the Micro SD card to read in your computer.....First of all, it is a MICRO card, and if you bought the phone then you did get an adapter to slide the micro card into the regular size SD card and some computers have the capability to read those. If not, then you'll have to get a USB adapter (off of Ebay or some place like Ebay) so you can put the micro card into the adapter and then put the adapter with micro inserted into your USB port.

shooter on October 16, 2006 3:47 PM

The reviews of this phone are unfair. I bought it a few days ago against all the negative online press because I could return it in 30 days so I gave it a shot.

1. You can easily change the screen saver so you don't have to look at the ugly cartoons
2. Many people bitching about usage really don't know how to use technology, or they don't read the manual. Yes some thing are not totally intuitive but once you figure them out it is no big deal.

Items to try:
1. Use the post above and keep the micro SD card in the phone and use the USB sync cable. you have to plug in the cable, let windows try and fail to install the CDMA modem, then go to into the tools menu on the phone and turn on the USB sync. Works like a champ
2. DON'T use the sprint music store, use the memory card and song quality is great
3. The FM transmitter ROCKS. People bitching don't know how to use them. You have to pick around 10 FM frequencies on your radio that have TOTAL static and try each one. Depending on your local area depends on whether or not the phone won't get any interferrence. I have it playing flawlessly at a range of up to 5 feet away from the radio. Set up 10 channels on the phone then set one active, turn on the media player, play a song then go options, and hit zero to turn on the FM transmitter

shooter on October 16, 2006 3:48 PM

Anyone got the 2gb MicroSD card to work?

gautam on October 18, 2006 10:08 AM

Yeah, most of the people complaining have not spent more than 20 minutes with the phone. Nearly every aspect (except for a front-end status light) can be configured to your own tastes.

Secondly, the design is very sleek and the phone is nice to hold. It weighs about the same as older phones with about 1/5th of the amount of features.

But on one last note - WHAT about the 2GB microSD? Did anyone manage to make that functional?

Joe on October 19, 2006 1:43 PM

Short answer: no.

I have gotten the 2gb microSD card to work for pictures only so far. The phone DOES recogonise the size of the card and allows me to take pictures/video and save them to the memory card. The phone does act a little "glitchy" though. Sometimes when I view my pictures, my phone will not recognise the format of the pictures until I reboot the phone. It also won't let me download music off Sprint Music Store. Also, as soon as I try and connect the phone to my computer via the usb cable; the phone sometimes freezes or reboots. If I'm lucky... it will show up on my computer as a removable drive, but I can't do anything with it.

My last ditch effort before I ebay this memory card is to get a usb microSD card reader and completely bi-pass the phone. Hopefully this works. I'll post my findings when I have them.

I was able to download music from my computer that I had uploaded but can't seem to download any of the itunes music because it is protected...? Anyone know how to unprotect the music file?

scott on October 19, 2006 11:18 PM

no you cant play music from ur comp as ur ringer, they are stored in the media folder not the music folder, and ive tried two computer neither of which read the card for this phone, and the usb feature recognizes the phone as an external modem, and its pissing me off cause i cant find the software, so basically the reason i bought this phone (to have music also) is totally useless right now

Tyler on October 20, 2006 4:55 AM

Any one get the bluetooth headset to play the music?

Joe on October 20, 2006 9:43 AM

"and the usb feature recognizes the phone as an external modem, and its pissing me off cause i cant find the software, so basically the reason i bought this phone (to have music also) is totally useless right now"

Scott,
When you plug the phone into your computer, ignore the pop up you get about the modem. On your phone: go to tools > USB Flash Drive > Yes. It will now work as USB mass storage device. Drag and drop your MP3s into the music or media folder on the phone, disconnect the phone, hit the play button on the phone and enjoy your music.

Anthony on October 21, 2006 10:49 AM

This Phone is excellent if you know what the features are and how to use them. Ive never had any problem putting music on the phone and you can connect right through the phone. AS for the modem has any one gotten that to work id like to use that feature

emma sue on October 22, 2006 11:50 PM

i read everyone's comment about how to transfer music files to my memory card and i don't get it...someone suggested to go to computer and click on the "G" drive...there within lies my confusion...what's a "G" drive and do i have to install something to get it? is there another way of transferring files??? help, you can email me at emillee523@yahoo.com or reply back here...thank you.....love the phone!

Joe on October 24, 2006 12:20 PM

OK here's the skinny on the 2gb memory card: Does it work on the fusic? Short answer: yesno... that's right, I said yesno. It works... but not really.

The best I could do is have it read as a 1gb memory card. As long as I kept the data in the card under 1gb, it worked fine. Isn't that just wonderful?... =p So... the only reason you would use a 2gb memory card for this phone is if you are like me and bought one before you did your research and now have what appears to be a useless memory card. If that fits your case, do the following to make it work on your phone so you don't have to buy a 1gb memory card:

1.) Buy a TransFlash card reader that you can plug into your USB plug in your computer. These are cheap. Make sure you buy one that can support up to 2gb cards. Also make sure that you have the TransFlash/MicroSD adapter for your MicroSD memory card. You need this because your phone can't handle the 2gb memory card and has no idea what to do with it. I was also not able to get it to work with a microSD card reader.
2.) format the card in your phone (menu > tools > memory card > options > format memory card)
3.) turn on your camera in your memory card. You will get a notice that your phone is creating two files on your memory card. Select OK. Turn off camera mode.
4.) Start your music player by pressing and holding the play button on the front of the phone and select the music (not media). Your phone will tell you that you have no music, but it will create a file on your memory card that you will need.
5.) Take out the memory card and put it into your TransFlash adapter which is pluged into your TransFlash card reader, which is pluged into your usb port on your computer.... yeah.
6.) The card should pop up instantly as a USB mass storage device on your PC (havn't tried this on a mac)
7.) Put up to 999MB of songs in your MUSIC file on the memory card. NOT the media file. If you put it in the media file you will only be able to listen to one song at a time and won't be able to make play lists.
8.) The phone should now work with your 1gb of songs.

So that's all I got... I bet there is a way to make the 2gb card work as a 2gb card... but I give up =p To be honest... I don't think a 2gb card would even be that good. If you put a gig worth of songs on your phone, it takes the phone about a minute to load all the songs every time you hit the play button. That's no fun. That means 2gbs would take 2 minutes to load all the songs... that's twice as less fun. I don't want to sit there in silence for 2 minutes while my phone loads music. Not fun indeed.

Anyway... hope this answers some questions some of you might have. Peace.

emily on October 25, 2006 10:53 PM

thanks...i'll let you guys know if it works!!!!!!!!!

iss there any way ??

bobiton_woosel on October 30, 2006 3:26 PM

Whenever I take a pic with the camera, even though the initial preview comes out OK, after it saves it to the memory card, it immediately squashes it to a smaller size, making all my pics looks distorted. Anyone else have the same problem.

Jon M on November 1, 2006 5:37 PM

Screw the Fusic, I bought one and a buddy of mine did as well, we wanted to use it as an mp3 player so we bought the ridiculously priced 2gb micro sd cards, they dont work!! BEWARE all you thinking of buynig a fusic. the fm transmitter is decent at best, you CANNOT use your mp3's as ringtones, you can make your own ringtones and upload them yourself but it takes some research, and the quality isnt great. it does seem to be glitchy, and sucks for what is makes itself out to be. uf anyone sees a firmware update for the fusic, to enable the 2gb that would be great, also if the preformatting the sd card into 2 1 gb cards works please post. My thought was that the media player was the thing preventing all the music to play, so someone smarter than I should make a media player that allows all the music to play. lg friggin sucks if they purposely put a limit on space

1. take the really small memory card (microsd card) in to the bigger card that is port
2. then stick the two cards that are together in to you comptuar(cant spell) if you cant put the cards in to your computer use a camera with the same size memory card as the port with the mirco sd card in it pluge camrea in computer.
3.then go to my computer and take out the card but at the same time look for something to change that should be it then same thing with camera but insead of takeing out card unpluge camera oh then put it back in
4. then click on the thing that changedand it sould have a music folder that says music click on that
5. then add your songs in to the music folder
6. then put the card in to the phone again
7.go to music and then move right once to player and click my music or something name will change if you change name

ill try to figre out how to do it with the usb port but till then this is all i got any questions just post it and ill answer when possible

I have an IPod for music, so what I want to know is how to use this phone as a modem for my laptop. There is nothing specific in the manual and i couldn't find anything helpful on the LG web site either. Anybody else get this function to work?

Oline on November 13, 2006 9:05 PM

so i spent forever trying to figure this out, but i finally got it! what i did was i connected the chord thingy to the computer and phone
then i let the computer say that the new device was unable to load
Then i went to Menu- tools- usb flash
Then let that connect
then i went to Windows media playing and went to copy to CD or other device
then i picked the songs i wanted and went to the right and chose to down load it on to a removeable disk
I highlighted Media and then pressed copy
hope this helps those that have windows media as there cd burner

o and dont forget to put the little memory card thing into your phone slot!

To whoever (Joel) has written "reviews" about the Fusic and gets long winded with their hate of the device need to build a time machine and go move your B.S. blog back to when cell phones were the size of the tumor in your head.

To Moron "Blogger": Writing about crap-tastic screen savers and menus tells me that you spent less time looking at it than you do taking a shit.

re: >> 20 steps on getting it to play music >>

WITHOUT opening the phone:
1) Hold down the Play/Pause button to get keyguard off.
2) Hold down the Play/Pause button to bring up a selection on whether you want to peruse Sprint Music or MicroSD music
3) Click the Play/Pause button to Select One
3) THATS IT GOBSTOPPER - It starts playing the F!@#ING music automatically

Oh and having to keep your stupid ass Podcast on pause indefinitely while the battery wears down: USE SEEK FORWARD

GOOD LORD, ever use an MP3 device before???

The Fusic is great, and it's not a 2 year olds toy if you take 2 minutes to go through the options and get it to do exactly what you want.

SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS, GO BACK TO LALALAND, STOP FILLING UP THE INTERNET WITH YOUR DRIBBLE

fusic-lover on November 16, 2006 1:36 PM

Jen-to get the pictures to become screen savers (main or sub display), or assigned to a caller:

Goto > settings > display > screensaver > main/sub > select my content

or

Goto > camera > my albums > local/card/internet > assign > screensaver

ok so I've read most of the comments and I still don't know how to get my music from my computer onto my phone... I put the chip into the adapter and then into my computer. It opened up a folder and then I tried to drag songs from my music folder to the media folder and it just won't work!! It keeps saying that the disk is right-protected and that I need to remove the right protection or use another disk... has anyone had this happen?

Oh and btw, I've tried using the USB cord too and it does the same thing.. HELP

Thanks

I read the comments about how to transfer music from computer to phone and tried them. I hook up my USB cord, sync my music using windows media player, then move the files into the media folder. They show up when I go to tools, then memory card, but not in the media folder from the external navigation pane. When I got to the media folder that way it says no content. So, I have to keep the phone open to listen to music. I read that some other people were having the same problem....any luck with it? Any suggestions from anyone?????

I have the music files on the memory card. I go to tools then to memory card and then I select the song, but it beeps and says invalid file. When I put the card into my computer it shows the songs and plays them. The title of the song shows up on the phone but will not play. They are all songs I purchased from itunes. Can anyone help??

Just got my LX550 about 2 weeks ago, picked up a couple MicroSD cards. I love the MicroSD expandability, MP3 player, camcorder and 1.3MP camera (though I was hoping for something a little higher in quality, but what do you expect). I also love the FM transmitter (works great as long as you put it on a higher frequency for a stronger signal and figure out how to ground it decently). Two days ago I picked up a Motorola combo with the HT820 BT headset and DC800 Stereo BT gateway. The HT820 works like a dream. However I'm having a problem using the DC800 gateway with the Fusic. It'll pair fine. It'll connect. However, when I transmit music to it, after 20 seconds my phone will freeze and occassionally state "unknown sig raised" and I'll have to pull the battery. Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know if the V09 to V12 firmware upgrade will fix this? The HT820 however works perfectly, beyond expectations however using the A2DP 1.2 protocol. I just can't understand why the gateway using the same A2DP 1.2 protocol would be any different besides the fact that the LX550 is using A2DP 1.1 (though 1.2 should be backwards compatible, you'd think) Anyway, I must go, any help would be much obliged.

SuperSquid on November 21, 2006 2:08 AM

wow...peoples' inability to follow the amazingly (at times) well put directions on here is astounding.

to get the transmitter to work you must:
1. go into tools
2. go to music transmitter
3. select a channel (Ch 1, for example)
4. Select Channel Edit at the bottom right of the screen
5. Enter in a frequency that is ONLY STATIC when you turn it on in your car/at your house
6. Select "Freq Save" at bottom left of screen
7. While same channel you just editted is still highlighted on main music transmitter screen, click "Channel Save" on bottom left of screen.
8. go to music player, select memory card or in-phone media
9. Select a song
10. Go to options
11. Select transmitter
12. Select "Yes" to turn transmitter on
13. Turn on your car radio and tune to station you have stored in music transmitter.
PRESTO! music from your phone magically plays over your car's stereo.

To load music:
1. Put Micro SD card into slot on left side of phone
2. Select menu, then tools
3. scroll to bottom of list and select "USB FLASH DRIVE" and click "YES" when promtped.
4. Connect USB cord to phone and computer
5. Just hit cancel when it asks you to install the device as a modem
6. Go to my computer
7. See "G" drive and open it by double clicking the icon
8. Open Media folder
9. Search your computer for music files via the search option.
10. When you find a song you want on your phone, drag the file by clicking and holding the mouse while you slide the icon you have selected over to the MEDIA FILE FOLDER window you still have open.
11. Fill up you music folder then..
***NOTE: FOLLOW ON PHONE INSTRUCTIONS AND DO NOT JUST RIP THE CORD OUT WHEN YOU WANT TO!! You must EJECT the device from the computer (little green arrow on bottom right of your computer's task bar). Click this, then select the device and click "stop"****

Now, it is my understanding that it is impossible, but if anyone figures out how to convert mp3s on the mem card to ringers, let me know. any other way to load ringers is welcome also. There must be a trick to get around this. email me. famouslastwords@gmail.com

i cannot believe how some of you cannot figure this easy simple device out. big props goes out to supersquid for the newb walk through.

My two cents:
RING TONES! (Power Vision and Text Message charges will apply)

1. Download dBpowerAMP (or any converter).
2. Convert .mp3 file into .wav file
3. In Windows, open Sound Recorder (Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Entertainment).
4. Open the .wav file
5. Now chop up the file to however long you want the ringtone to be.
6. Save the file
7. Optional - You can convert the new .wav file to .mp3 to save room on your phone.
8. Go to www.ringerpost.com/uploader
9. Punch in your phone number in Send To
10. In Description, name your ringtone
11. Click Browse and find your .mp3 or .wav file (edited file)
12. Click Send It!

Now, you will get a text message from ringerpost.com with a download link. Open the message and hit the right soft key and scroll down to Go. Power Vision should start up and you will get some message saying that the content isn's safe. Click continue anyways, you should now be downloading the ringtone. It will auto save to your My Content folder (but not online at Sprint.com).

All free (except the vision and text message).

NaeBae on November 27, 2006 5:11 PM

Yah, some people don't have a "g" drive, mine was under "e" Drive. Just look under My computer before you put in ur USB, then look to see which drive is new. That is the one you will be using.

Amber on November 27, 2006 5:14 PM

the only drive that comes up when i open My Computer is dvd/cd-rw drive... do I use that?

NaeBae on November 27, 2006 6:26 PM

In order to listen to music that you download from you computer w/your phone shut, you have to download it into your "media" folder vs. your "music" folder. Then you have to listen to it from you "Media Player", but at least you can shut the phone instead of keeping it open (like from the tools/memory card option.)
Still confused as to how to get the transmitter to work on this option though.

NaeBae on November 27, 2006 6:37 PM

Nevermind on that last one, on my card there isn't even enough memory for 3 songs...
Someone please help.

Is the 2 GB memory card not compatible?

I have followed all the advice of this collumn in viewing the Memory card through the USB port. I have no joy with a USB connection to my 2 GB card.

Yes I know that I can view the content of the memory card through the adaptor. Everything else appears to be working fine. I have 1.3GB of music loaded just fine.

When I attach the usb directly to the computer and select the usb card, nothing shows up right away. After 5-10 minutes a drive appears; but no content appears. Apparently locking up / slowing down the computer.

I suspect my 64mb card will work fine. I will verify my assumption using the 64 mb card tomarrow.

Has anyone else gotten a 2GB card to connect through the USB?

Tiburon Bill on November 29, 2006 11:52 PM

I don't think the Fusic likes the 2 gb memory card. I can only get it to hold 1 gb of data. When I format it, it says it has 2 gb of capacity, but it shows that 960,000 is used and 965,000 is free with no data on the drive. Also the Fusic connects fine with my USB cable to my computer when I have the little 64 mb micro-sd inside the phone. But when I put the 2 gb micro-sd in, it won't recognize the "g" drive on my computer. I think the 2 gb drives are so new that LG hasn't set the phone up to accept them. Any other thoughts?

dizimekeya on December 9, 2006 12:30 PM

ok very simple but took me a while to figure out.

1.plug the phone to the computer using the usb cord provided with your phone.
2. once the phone is connected to the computer get on your phone and go to tools then go all the way down to usb flash drive then it shoul connect
3. search for your phone on your computer (usally u would go to mycomputer and a removable disk drive should be in their)
4.find the folder your music is in the just simpily drag and drop the music into the media folder because using the music folder complicate things because u have to make a playlist then u cant close your phone while listening to music but if u put it in media you wont have to go through the hassels any questions email me at dizimekeya@yahoo.com i will help as much as i can.

hi guys, I just bought my phone online last weekend. I had to check on the music, so connected it to my pc, could load like 5 songs with the md card you get with the phone( LG does a lot of false advertising saying tons of songs) And I noticed that I could play the mp3 with the flip open by going to media player from the memory card. But it wouldnt play when closed when I tried to use the ext. controls. The external control would light up but nothing showed up. So there was no point of me buying the phone if the I cannt control the music thru the ext. buttons. So I looked online, came across your forum for troubleshooting. Man I thought who are these guys who have so much time to talk about a cellphone, but it was helpful.. Reading thru all your notes, I could see many seem to have the same problem with ext controls. thought may be I return favour by leaving a note.

So I took the phone back to the sprint store, and the guys there didnt know about how to start ext. controls. Then I used the model phone at the store to show them, press the outside play button and hold to choose memory card or store. Then they exchanged mine, gave me a new one that works. Also the new phone, I noticed seem to have lot more features, esp in memory card folders. The store guys were helpful. So I think some of you may have a real problem so try exchanging or wait for sony ericsson w950. thank you.

Getting songs and pictures on and off the memory card is no problem since I have a SD card reader on my computer,
but does anyone know how to get pictures from the "IN PHONE" memory onto the computer?
There's only room for about 30 pictures on the in phone memory, but I'd like to save the 64 mbs for music.

This is the "IN PHONE" memory using the USB cable. Not the SD card memory.
Any help would be great.

supersquid on December 18, 2006 4:14 PM

MIKE - You are the man. Nice post.

As far as the pic goes - I emailed you about it.

Just send it to your phone as an email. Or you can use one of the file uploaders previously mentioned here. They should work.

You just have to be sure it will make it size wise. I think the manual includes info about that. It has to be formated properly.

supersquid on December 18, 2006 4:16 PM

as for the questions about not finding a "g" drive - it MAY be named something else (A through Z) on your comp. Just find the right one (the one that is NOT there when your phone isn't plugged in). Good luck.

i found the best way to upload music onto the phone is to put the memory card into SD drive and then convert all music into windows media player onto a sync list and then sync it into device. then you have to drag all the synced music into media file in G drive and it will work just fine. it took me a while to figure it out but if you have some time it'll come to ya.

How do you create playlists from the songs on your memory card?

Chaz on January 4, 2007 1:56 PM

Word is that upgrading the fusic firmware v09 to v12 will allow the phone to recognize a 2gig card. Is his true? I have also heard somewhere that the v12 upgrade will make the phone only play mp3's that have been downloaded from Sprint. I think is false but can anyone that has upgraded confirm or deny that rumor?

Angie Fisher on January 5, 2007 8:32 PM

Just some complaints: My first Fusic was defective, couldn't recognize nor use the card usually, therefore wouldn't work as MP3. I had 100+ pics on it, stored in the phone since the card wouldn't work. The internal software was malfunctioning and very irregular as to allowing me to remove the pics via pictbridge. It would only stay connected up to 20 seconds, usually way less. The usb xfer method didn't work at all because the card wasn't recognized by the phone (card worked in my computer). The store said they "weren't allowed" to use their desktop to get my pics off, but if I wanted to leave the phone, he may be able to use their laptop eventually to try to get them off. I took my phone home and it took my husband and I 4+ hrs to get all but 17 pics off. The rest just would not come off. The store ordered a replacement phone (which took a wk to come in, then one of their employees later told me they gave me a refurbished phone). Phone #2 worked as MP3 but wouldn't work as a phone. They tried to fix it 4 times, then replaced it again. I took the free 30 day fancy package thingy to get the pics uploaded to the Sprint online site to get them off phone #2, haven't tried to download them yet. They lost the card I took in w/ the phone and once my husband made the last trip to get the phone #3 from this Sprint dealer store to save my blood pressure, they neglected to move my phone book over. Each time I get a Fusic, I'm told not to use the phone for 2 hours and not to use any other features except MP3 for 4 hours to assure their network has time to update the phone. I'm still waiting to use #3 for anything other than MP3. If it doesn't work, they'll be paying for my therapy bills.

Fusic phone.. great until I needed support from sprint I put the phone in silent mode and found that it will vibrate periodically for no reason. So I cannot use silent mode. Found that if I upgrade to v12 firmware it would solve the problem. Well off we go to the only store in town that can help. No deal I get lied to over and over. I called customer support and no better seems they are asleep at the wheel. I will post on every site I can find.
Let people know how lacking the support for this product has been.

Thanks
John K.

I cannot get my itunes songs off my Mac PowerBook downloaded to the phone. Are these two incompatible? Nowhere in itunes does it allow me to convert my songs to the format fusic requires. Am I missing something here?

Has anyone figured out how to do these:

1. Make the mp3s in a folder play by track number instead of by alphabetical order without needlessly renaming every file or creating a playlist for every album.

2. Get rid of that background noise that's very audible during the quiet passages of the music.

3. Get rid of that even louder noise whenever a track advances to the next song.

It has v12 and a 2GB Sandisk card installed. Can you guys verify if your phones have these issues? I may have a malfunctioning unit. Thanks.

Whenever I try to record something with the "Humming" thing in the Melody Composer, it won't save. If anyone could email me with what's going on, that'd be great. silverxandxcold3@aol.com

I have totally taken my fusic to the next level, i can play great sounding music as my ringtones, i can watch full episodes and movies when converted and even watch them on the outside of my phone, which is great, all stereo sound videos, it is great, there are still so many things this phone can do and i want everyone to know it's potential, if i can sit and watch Aqua teen hunger force while my fusic is closed and have it be in full screen, thats perfect for me, and it has all been free, o and 1 more thing, i hate the zillion fusic forums that never tell you anything directly about the 2gb memory card, 2 1 gigs is fine with me, but now that i know that the 2 gb works, i'm set

Giggles on January 21, 2007 2:30 PM

Wayne that is soo cool that you can do all that how did you do it please tell!!!! thanks

I got my phone (LX550)... and I am trying to view some photos (jpg format) or designs I made myself (I own a mac) and when I try to see them on the bloody phone, it keeps saying: "Invalid File" I tried to see a photo I took with my cybershot and it worled, but once I "saved it as" on Photoshop same thing: "Invalid File" It does the same thing with some photos downloaded from the web. (not all of them)

I tried using Ringerposter Uploader and I got the same thing.

So i have had my LG Fusic since Christmas and I LUV IT!!!! i havent had any kind of problems. Today was the first day i attempted to put music on it and I was luckily successful after reading the many post on here. I only have one problem i cant create a folder so that i can listen to music with the phone shut. I read the manuel and even went to sprint.com the problem with their directions is it only explains how to create a folder with music downloaded from the store. If anyone can help me understand how to transfer music off of my memory card and into a folder on my phone i would greatly appreciate it thanks for reading!!!!

Ms Melissa on February 3, 2007 1:42 PM

Can anyone help me Upload music onto my phone. I've followed all the steps you guys have left But I'm still unable to upload.

FIRST I insert in my memory card, connect my usb cord from my computer onto my phone. Selected TOOLS, Went to USB and clicked YES. Then I selected Cancel when the pop up came up. Clicked on my Computer But all I see is are A, E, C, D DRIVES. I don't see a "G" drive. I've read that IT MIGHT be in my E drive...But when I clicked on my "E" Drive there's nothing there at all. No Media folders or anything. Hms...Am I doing something wrong? Or is my Windows not compatiable? I have windows XP...if anyone can please help... It's soooo frustrating with this thing!!!!

HOW TO PUT iTUNES ON FUSIC:

Ok putting iTunes on your Fusic is super easy. All you need to do is either plug your memory card into your computer, or connect your USB cord to your phone. Then go to My Computer, click on whichever removable disk brings you to your phone's stuff. You will see folders that are named: DCIM, MEDIA, and MUSIC. Open the MEDIA file. If your iTunes are not already open, open them. Then all you have to do highlight what song you want, and then drag the song into the folder, wait for it to convert, and then presto, you have music!

Melissa on February 3, 2007 2:40 PM

Okay,I've tried that. But the only problem is trying to locate the drive on my computer. when I click on MY COMPUTER all i don't see "G" "F" or REMOVABLE DISK drive. All I see are just "A" "E" "C" "D" drives. How do I find it?

Melissa on February 3, 2007 2:46 PM

And Wht do you mean by just pluggin my memory card into my computer? Where? How? would it be easier to go that route?

I have read this whole post and I haven't seen anyone answer the question of HOW TO LISTEN TO MUSIC WITH BLUETOOTH. HELP!! I have paired my Bluetooth with the phone just fine and have made/rec'd calls ... no problem. And I am able to listen to my music via the heaset the came with the Fusic. Anyone figure out how to route the music through thier Bluetooth? I am REALLY hoping for some answers here since Sprint Tech Support was no help. Only reason I dropped $130 for my Bluetooth is to LISTEN TO MUSIC at the gym. Thanks!!

We have performed all the steps mentioned above, but it continues to say "USB cable is now connected. Do not remove USB cable and the memory card." How long should it take we are just trying to download one song and it has been saying this forever........

Ok, So I am so excited to have this phone but..... I use Itunes for my music and I have been able to get my music on the phone but it says invalid file (I have them saved in the media folder).
